Galaxy Europe - Discover a different European Universe!

Did you ever imagine that the European Parliament could become an intergalactic space station, that MEPs were not mere voices representing citizens but galactic heros saving the European Universe from instability and leading it boldly were no one has never been before...

If you are on the side of the believers (or even sceptics), this campaign might interest you...

So what is all this fuss about?

During two and a half months, JEF-Europe organised an interactive campaign to promote the Members of the European parliament (MEP) and ultimately bring the work of the European parliament closer to the young citizens.

25 MEPs under 35 years old and from different political groups and nationalities were checked on www.galaxy-europe.net by thousands of young Europeans.

Every week, MEPs were asked to present themselves and answer questions on EU related issues such as the enlargment, consitutional treaty or transregionalism. From there on, young Europeans had the oportunity to comment on the answers and vote for their favourite MEP of the week.

After six weeks, only few passed the second tour and entered the sacred week of the finals. A new round of questions determined which was the Best young MEP 2006.

Are you finally getting slightly curious about the elected one?

Holger Krahmer is the best young MEP 2006!

Holger Krahmer is born in Leipzig, Germany and is 35 years old.

He is member of the Freie Demokratishce Partei - Die Liberalen and consequently is part of political group ALDE (  Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) in the European parliament.

Check here his answers to the questions and visit his Galaxy Europe webpage!

But what happened with them in the end?

As soon the competition came into its end, Holger Krahmer was announced the best cosmic youth Parlamentarian of the year, JEF galactic delegation: Jan Seifert (the President), Joan Marc Simon (the Secretary General) and Anne-Christine Roisin (the project manager) met with the finalist and handed them in truely cosmic prizes: a space-lamp for the winner and galactic caricatures to the rest of the finalists. Let's see...

But what kind of questions did they finally answered?

What were their answers? Did young Europeans leave comments? Check all the questions, answers and comments here.

And was there any MEP from my country or political affiliation?

Have a look at the list of MEPs and check their life, their poltical affiliation and why they run for MEP.
